Borja Oubina is in the Spain squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers |
Uncapped midfielder Borja Oubina has kept his place in the Spain squad for their Euro 2008 qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Northern Ireland. The Celta Vigo player is included in an unchanged 22-man panel at the expense of Villarreal's Marcos Senna.
Arsenal midfielder Jose Antonio Reyes, who has not played for the Gunners recently, also retains his place.
Spain host Liechtenstein in Badajoz on 2 September and then take on N Ireland at Windsor Park four days later.
Oubina helped Celta to sixth place last season on their return to the top flight.
Senna was dropped for the scoreless friendly draw against Iceland in Reykjavik on 15 August match because he had played so little for his club in pre-season after being on the verge of a move to Manchester United.
Barcelona players Carlos Puyol and Xavi retain their places after dropping out of the Iceland game because of injury.
Spain coach Luis Aragones said he saw no reason to make any changes to the team after the disappointing display against Iceland.
"I had confidence in these players at the World Cup and I still have now," he told a news conference in Madrid.
"In my view this is my best team although there are other players that are close to making the squad."
After a promising start to the tournament in Germany, Spain were defeated 3-1 to eventual finalists France in the first knockout round.
Denmark, Sweden, Iceland and Latvia are their other Group F opponents.
