Luton Town striker Warren Feeney has pulled out of the Northern Ireland squad for the tour to the USA.

Feeney's father, Warren senior, is currently undergoing tests in hospital and Warren junior has rushed back from holiday in Spain to be at his bedside.

The forward informed manager Lawrie Sanchez of his decision that it would be in everyone's best interests if he pulled out of the tour.

"My dad is having heart tests and I feel I should stay and be with him."

"I wouldn't be able to concentrate while I was out there and Lawrie understands," Feeney told the Belfast Telegraph.

"There may be a chance I might be able to get out for one match but I doubt that will happen," he added.

Leeds United striker David Healy is also missing from the panel as he is involved in Leeds United's promotion play-off against Watford.

Sanchez's men take on Uruguay on Sunday (1900 BST) and then face Romania on Saturday 27 May (0200 BST).
