Lawrie Sanchez is impressed by the N Ireland U19 side
Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez has praised the efforts of his country's Under-19 side despite two defeats in the Uefa championships.

"We played very well against Serbia and Montenegro who are likely to be in the final. It was a great battling performance and the lads can be proud.

"They will be disappointed not to have won either of their two games so far but it is a useful learning experience.

"We have done tremendously well against the best teams in Europe."

"Coach Mal Donaghy deserves great credit for the displays and hopefully we can finish by getting something from the game against Germany on Saturday.

"Some of the players in this competition will be moving for 20m or 30m in years to come and to host a tournament of this prestige is a great honour for Northern Ireland.

"Everything has gone well, the pitches look fantastic and the organisation is first class.

"A lot of credit must go to the IFA and everyone seems to enjoy it," said the Northern Ireland boss.
