Jordan frustrate Korea

South Korea 0-0 Jordan

South Korea were held to a surprise draw by Asia Cup debutants Jordan in their opening game in Group B.

The World Cup semi-finalists had the majority of possession and plenty of chances but were unable to beat man-of-the-match Amer Shafi in goal.

Jordan's best chance fell to Badran Shagran early on, but he could not connect with a cross.

"We had many chances and the keeper was not only good, but also lucky," said South Korea coach Jo Bonfrere.

Kuwait 3-1 United Arab Emirates

Kuwait lead Group B after a comprehensive win over the United Arab Emirates.

Bashar Abdulaziz opened the scoring after 24 minutes, wrongfooting keeper Juma Rashed with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Bader Al Mutawa doubled their advantage with a penalty after Rashid Abdulrahman's trip on Mesaed Al Enzi.

Kuwait all but sealed the win just before half-time when when Emirate defender Basheer Saeed Al Hamadi found his own net

Emirates game themselves hope of a recovery two minutes after the interval when substitute Mohamed Rashid took advantage of some ponderous defending, but Kuwait held on.
