Indonesia 2-1 Qatar

Indonesia dealt a major blow to Qatar's Asian Cup hopes with a shock win at the Workers Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from Budi Sudarsono and Ponaryo Astaman put Indonesia in charge against Philippe Troussier's side.

Sudarsono latched on to Bambang Pamungkas' pass after 26 minutes while Astaman's superb shot from distance went in off the bar after the break.

Qatar fought back, but Magid Mohamed's 85th-minute strike came too late for them to earn a reprieve.

China 2-2 Bahrain

A late goal by substitute Husain Ali denied hosta China a victory in their opening match of Group A at the Worker's Stadium.

Four minutes before half-time, Mohamed Hubail stunned the home fans by giving Bahrain the lead with a neat chip over China keeper Liu Yunfei.

But China hit back after the break, first through Zheng Zhi's penalty and then with Li Jinyu's crisp finish from a tight angle.

However, as China looked to be heading for victory, Husain Ali beat two defenders before finding the net to give the Gulf side a share of the points.

Turkmenistan 2-2 Saudi Arabia

Turkmenistan held three-time champions Saudi Arabia to a surprise draw in Group C.

Nazar Bayramov knocked in a header just six minutes into the first half to open the scoring for Turkmenistan.

Saudi Arabia hit back three minutes later, when Al Qahtani scored direct from a free-kick.

The Saudis went ahead in the second half when Al Qahtani headed a long, arcing cross over a straining Yevgeniy Naboychenko.

But Ildar Magdeev levelled from the penalty spot to earn Turkmenistan a point.

Iraq 0-1 Uzbekistan

Captain Mirdjalal Kasimov scored to give Uzbekistan a 1-0 win over Iraq and the lead in Group C.

The goal came after 21 minutes when Kasimov struck a free-kick over the Iraqi wall and past diving goalkeeper Ahmed Jabr.

Uzbekistan dominated the remainder of the first half in front of about 2,000 people at the newly built, 27,000-capacity Longquanyi Stadium in Chengdu.

Iraq pushed for an equaliser after the break and Mossa Razak was denied by goalkeeper Evgene Safonovent after beating two defenders to create the shooting opportunity.

Mahdi Ajeel also went close for Iraq with an impressive volley but Uzbekistan also had opportunities to extend the lead, with Jabr making a series of good saves.
