Norway keeper Thomas Myhre believes Scotland are still in the race for second place in Group Five despite the defeat at Hampden on Saturday. "I think Italy will run away with the group and there are four others who can get the number two spot," he said.
"This was a massive result for us because the game could have gone both ways and we were delighted to get the three points.
"But Scotland are not out. It will be a battle to the end."
Myhre admitted he had no idea whether Richard Hughes' first-half shot had crossed the line.
"My defenders say it was nowhere near over the line, but if it was I can understand Scotland's frustration," he added.
"But I couldn't tell from where I was lying."

Norway manager Age Hareide believes that if the Scots fail to win in Moldova on Wednesday, qualification would be all but impossible. He said: "If they don't win on Wednesday it will be very difficult for them having taken only one point from these matches.
"Maybe their confidence will go down as well and that is a problem for a national team manager.
"At a club you know you can pick up points again on Wednesday or Saturday but national team managers have to wait a long time for the next match."
He added: "It was a very good win for us. It is not easy to win at Hampden Park. Scotland have a very good record at home and we knew that.
"We also knew we hadn't beaten them since 1963, way back in history. I am very proud of my players, who worked very hard for each other.
"We took the pressure off ourselves by being wise, using our heads and we took control of the game.
"We could have scored more but that doesn't matter. It is the three points that matter because we are back in contention for second place."
