Wales boss Mark Hughes admitted his side got off to the worst possible start in their 2-0 defeat against England on Saturday. "It's obviously not the result we were after but we had real problems with Andy Melville pulling out just before kick-off," Hughes told BBC Sport.
"And then we conceded a very early goal - a deflection by all accounts.
"We've done okay but we were up against a decent side and at times we were unable to get a foothold in the game."
Hughes added: "I felt the lads dug in.
"It would have been easy for them to capitulate (after that start) but they didn't and that's credit to them.
"But we were just a little bit short today.
"Now we have to look to Poland on Wednesday, that game has taken a great significance.
"We have to hope England will beat everybody so we can get second in the group."
