BREAKING GOSSIP

2305 BST: Greece centre-back Sotiris Kyrgiakos claims he is set for a surprise move to Liverpool from AEK Athens.

"I would like to inform the fans of AEK that on Monday night I received an offer from Liverpool, an offer which I have accepted," said the 30-year-old on his personal website, www.kyrgiakos.gr.

However, his club have played down talk of a move by saying there is no agreement in place.

1700 BST: Athletic Bilbao president Fernando Garcia Macua insists Liverpool have not made an offer for their Venezuela-born defender Fernando Amorebieta, despite reports of a 12m euro bid. (Press Association)
