Sir Alex Ferguson will not watch his horse What a Friend run in the 2.40 GMT race at Cheltenham on Wednesday because of his side's clash with Inter. However, he will head to the racing festival on Thursday, despite playing Liverpool less than 48 hours later. (Daily Express)

Ferguson took on a new role at United for the club's TV channel - becoming a chef for the day and serving up a steak and foie gras for fellow club legend Denis Law as part of a cookery programme. (The Sun)

Arsenal star Robin van Persie only eats meat once a week because he thinks too much has a negative effect on his muscles. (The Sun)

Aston Villa's American goalkeeper Brad Friedel has revealed in his new book that he struggled to understand his team-mates at his first English club, Liverpool. Friedel said: "Early on, one of the guys posed me a question - "Ereyergoinfersumscram? I later understood that this was a polite invitation to go to lunch." (The Sun)
