Rodman earned 37% of the votes received on the FA website |
Leamington's Alex Rodman has been named as the FA Cup's "Player of the Round" for the third qualifying round. The midfielder polled 37% of the 31,000 votes on the FA's website after Leamington beat Woodford United 2-0.
The other candidates were Cambridge City's Mark Booth, Basingstoke's Mark Peters, Ossett Town's James Walshaw and Peter Cumiskey of Vauxhall Motors.
The announcement was delayed after the FA received a number of what it described as "rogue" duplicate votes.
Leamington - who play in the Midland Alliance, four divisions below the Conference - now travel to Ossett Town in the fourth qualifying round on Saturday.
Club secretary Brian Knibb said: "The award gives Alex and everyone at the club a massive boost, and we thank the many thousands of fans who voted for him.
"We fancy our chances against Ossett, and Alex's success will put everyone in the right frame of mind."
Rodman will receive an engraved silver salver and a VIP seat at the 2006 FA Cup Final at Wembley.
He also wins 1000 worth of Umbro football kit for a local school, club or organisation of his choice.
He joins Northwich Victoria's Paul Brayson and Gosport Borough's Jamie Laidlaw in this season's "Team of the FA Cup".
The Team of the FA Cup comprises player of the round winners from the first qualifying round to the semi-final.
