Everton will switch their attentions to the Europa League last 32 draw after a final group game loss to BATE Borisov.
The Toffees had already qualified for the knockout stage and fielded a young side which saw Kieran Agard go close when he angled a shot over the bar.
Everton centre-back Shane Duffy twice crucially blocked from Sergei Krivets as BATE tested the home defence.
But Duffy failed to do the same for a 25-yard Alexsandr Yurevich shot which he deflected into his own goal.
It was only a slight deflection and harsh on the 17-year-old who had looked impressive for a Toffees side going into Friday's draw along with fellow English sides Liverpool and Fulham.
Everton boss David Moyes had kept up the recent penchant for fielding weakened sides by making nine changes following his side's 3-3 at Chelsea last Saturday.
In a season ravaged by injuries so far, Moyes opted to protect his first-team players at Goodison Park.
He fielded his club's up-and-coming stars for a game which meant very little, with the Merseysiders having already qualified for the last 32 of the competition and with BATE already eliminated.
Defender Jake Bidwell - at 16 years and 271 days - became the youngest player to figure for Everton in Europe and the third youngest behind Jose Baxter and James Vaughan to play for them overall.
It did not take long for Everton's injury curse this season to strike again with Jack Rodwell being forced off after just eight minutes.
But the home side more than held their own against the Belarusian champions, whose best early chance saw a Sergei Sosnovski header coming off his team-mate Maksim Bordachov before being cleared from the Everton goalmouth.
Igor Shitov skied a 15-yard shot and Alexsandr Volodko's shot from slightly further out brought a smart save from keeper Carlos Nash in rare moments of action in an otherwise low-key affair.
Everton failed to make the most of some rare promising positions and, when they did get a sight of goal, Agard drove an effort high.
Borisov looked the more threatening and Moyes will be pleased at how the likes of left-back Bidwell, Duffy and right-back Seamus Coleman coped, along with skipper Tony Hibbert, who became the club's most-capped player in Europe with 20 outings.
Duffy deflected a Krivets effort wide and later slid in to block a goalbound shot from the same player after the Borisov forward had rounded Nash.
However, Yurevich's strike clipped his heel before going past Nash as Everton's resistance was broken.
An Agard snapshot late on went wide and, even though there was no equaliser for Everton, their young side gained some vital first-team experience and showed plenty of promise.
Everton manager David Moyes: "Hopefully, the youngsters will have benefited and realised the level they need to get up to in order to play. The back four had a busy night but overall the boys did fine.
"It was a night where some of the boys will come away with experience and hopefully grow in confidence from it.
"I think the crowd were good and understood the players we were putting out with the predicament we are in at the moment in terms of the injuries we are carrying right now."
