Stephen Kenny's side played poorly in the second half
Galway United came from a goal down to beat Derry City 3-1 in their League of Ireland Premier Division game at the Brandywell on Tuesday night.
James McLean fired home from six yards to put the Candystripes in front in the sixth minute and McLean and Tam McManus squandered chances to add a second.
David Cook scored the equaliser at the back post on the stroke of half-time.
Aaron Green drilled a low shot past Ger Doherty on 68 minutes and Alan Murphy struck with a blistring shot after 76.
Barry Ryan did well to push out Mark Farren's header from a Gareth McGlynn cross, but McLean was on hand to edge the ball home for the opener.
McLean then had a shot blocked and McManus fired over the bar as Derry dominated the game.
Cook levelled against the run of play after Derry failed to clear the ball from a free-kick.
McManus wasted another good chance after the break and Barry Molloy was just wide with his attempt on goal.
Green turned Peter Hutton and beat Doherty at his near post to make it 2-1 and then former Derry player Murphy made the points safe with his shot into the top corner.
