Castillo unleashes his powerful shot for Everton's second
Segundo Castillo's thunderbolt earned Everton a draw in a frantic first leg, first round Uefa Cup tie against Belgian champions Standard Liege.
Dieudonne Mbokani slotted Liege ahead before Yakubu fired in an equaliser.
Everton's Joseph Yobo put a cross into his own net but Castillo's 25-yard shot again hauled the home side level.
Everton pressed for a winner but survived a late penalty appeal when Wilfried Dalmat went down after a Joleon Lescott challenge.
An impressive Liege had given Everton notice of their threat during their Champions League qualifier against Merseyside rivals Liverpool in August.
On that occasion, Liege proved the better side only to fall to a late extra-time goal after suffering from a lack of clinical edge in front of goal.
They had no such problems early on this time around as they took the lead after nine minutes.
Having seen Victor Anichebe fire wide for Everton, Liege worked a delightful move which saw Steven Defour slide a pass inside left-back Lescott for Dalmat.
The pacy left-winger beat Lescott to the ball and slipped a low cross for Mbokani to sidefoot home from close range.
Everton's Tim Cahill nodded over at the far post before Yakubu equalised when he guided home his shot after Leon Osman had directed a Mikel Arteta ball into the Nigerian's path.
Milan Jovanovic had a effort blocked on the Everton goal-line by his team-mate Igor De Camargo in an enthralling game.
Yobo then put the ball into his own net as he tried to intercept a Marcos Camozzato cross, but Everton again hit back courtesy of Castillo's rocket on his home debut.

Anichebe felt he should have had a penalty when, running away from goal, he went down following a tangle of legs with Oguchi Onyewu.
The referee waved away Everton's appeals and the game continued at a high tempo with both sides producing some eye-catching football.
Liege played on the counter-attack as Everton pressed and probed for a breakthrough.
James Vaughan came closest when he headed narrowly over from an Arteta cross before Lescott escaped conceding an injury-time spot-kick at the other end.
Dalmat got in behind the Toffees defender and was caught by Lescott in another clash where there appeared to be a tangle of legs.
Everton boss David Moyes: "Hopefully we will play better and defend better in the return leg.
"I've been saying that for a few weeks now and it's getting to the stage where I'm going to have to start looking at it and if it's going to stay the same.
"Hopefully, we can go to Belgium, keep a clean sheet and score a goal."
