Anichebe happy with midfield role

Everton striker Victor Anichebe has said he is prepared to play in midfield on a regular basis if manager David Moyes needs him to.

Anichebe, 20, played on the right wing and got on the scoresheet, as the Blues won 3-2 at Stoke on Sunday.

"The manager asked me to play right midfield, which is different for me," he told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"To be fair I enjoyed it and if he asks me to play there, I'm going to play there, it's not really a problem."

The Nigeria international made his first Everton appearance of the season against Stoke, following his involvement at the Beijing Olympics.

He was deployed out wide for the first time in his senior career at club level and said while he found it difficult to adjust initially, he did enjoy the experience.

"I'm still young and I'm still learning but I enjoyed today, I got myself on the scoresheet, I helped the team and I held the ball up.

"Right midfield is a very demanding position, you have to get forward and go back, it's crazy."
