Wieghorst pleased with away win

Morten Wieghorst
Wieghorst has warned his players not to underestimate Queens

Nordsjaelland manager Morten Wieghorst commended the spirit of his players after their 2-1 victory over Queen of the South at Airdrie's Broomfield.

Benjamin Kibebe's second-minute volley earned the Danes an early lead, and, despite a Queens revival, Patrice Bernier's tap-in sealed the win.

"We're not used to this style, but we handled it well." said Wieghorst.

"I'm sure Queens will work hard to get back into the tie, so we'll need to be on our toes in Copenhagen."

Former Celtic and Dundee midfielder Wieghorst felt his side were impatient in possession at times in the second half but he was happy with their overall play and their attitude.

He also admitted the start was beyond his expectations, but would not concede that the tie was over.

"I thought they did very well because we underlined before the game how important it was not to underestimate the opposition," said Wieghorst.

"A lot of people back home were saying it was just a case of turning up, but it's not in European football and against a Scottish side who will battle hard.

"The boys did well to keep their focus.

"We are in the driving seat but we still have a job on our hands."
