GOALFLASHES AND MAJOR INCIDENTS (all times BST)
AS THE GROUPS STAND
Group E: Lyon have still yet to concede and maintain their 100% record to top the group, with Real Madrid in second. Steaua Bucuresti and Dynamo Kiev look to be fighting it out for a Uefa Cup spot.
Group F: The British boys boss the group. Manchester United are top with three wins, three points ahead of Celtic. If the Bhoys win their away match in Benfica and United draw in Copenhagen they will both progress after the next round of matches.
Group G: CSKA Moscow's win from earlier in the evening means they leapfrog Arsenal into first place with the Gunners now second by a point. If Hamburg fail to win their return match with Porto next up they will be out of the running for the knockout stages.
Group H: The wins for AC Milan and Lille cement their places as one and two in the standings respectively, with daylight between them and Anderlecht and AEK Athens.
2136: FULL-TIME
What a breathless second 45 that was to conclude an entertaining evening's action. Eight positive results - or eight negative ones if that's how you want to be - and 25 goals, which is more than any of the previous four nights of matches so far this season. Groups E to H have been outscored each week, but the teams in action tomorrow night may have their work cut out to top that tally.
2133: GOAL Lille 3-1 AEK Athens
That is the win for Lille in the first minute of added time as Jean Makoun strikes. He makes space for himself on the edge of the area after sending a defender the wrong way and then rifles a shot beyond Stefano Sorrentino. That makes it 21 defeats in a row for the Greeks in this competition.
2132: GOAL Porto 4-1 Hamburg
Piotr Trochowski gets a consolation for beleaguered Hamburg, jinking in from the left and rifling a shot through a crowded box into the far corner.
2131: GOAL Celtic 3-0 Benfica
A neat passing move from Celtic ends with Shunsuke Nakamura hammering a shot on goal. Quim parries and Stephen Pearson pounces from close range.
2126: GOAL: Porto 4-0 Hamburg
Lisandro Lopez gets his second of the night, stabbing home after a throughball catches the Hamburg defence napping.
2125: GOAL Manchester United 3-0 FC Copenhagen
He started so well but that is a real clanger from FC Copenhagen goalkeeper Jesper Christiansen. Kieran Richardson lets fly from distance and the stopper is absolutely bamboozled by the bounce of the ball in front of him on the sodden turf.
2124: GOAL Lille 2-1 AEK Athens
That could be a decisive goal from Daniel Gygax for Lille as their match enters the final 10 minutes. Again the provider is Abdul Kader Keita after good work on the right a pull back from the byeline.
2118: That should be a goal for a present Manchester United player, but Alan Smith caresses a cross from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when he should have thumped it into the FC Copenhagen goal with only the keeper to beat.
2116: GOAL Steaua Bucuresti 1-4 Real Madrid
An exquisite finish from Ruud van Nistelrooy. His lob from 10 yards from the right of the area restores Real's three-goal advantage in the Romanian capital. That is the Dutchman's 50th in the competition.
2115: GOAL Porto 3-0 Hamburg
Hamburg's dreadful start to the season goes from bad to worse. Former Tottenham striker Helder Postiga is the man on target with a diving header to convert Ricardo Quaresma's inviting cross.
2109: GOAL Lille 1-1 AEK Athens
Just three minutes after Lille take the lead it is all square in France. The visitors opt for the long ball and substitute Vladimir Ivic pounces on a flick on.
2107: GOAL Celtic 2-0 Benfica
Goals are going in left, right and centre and Kenny Miller bags his second of the night. Shaun Maloney bides his time before releasing a sublime cross-field pass for Miller who picks his spot from the right of the box. Celtic Park is rocking.
2106: GOAL Lille 1-0 AEK Athens
There is now a goal in every game as Mathieu Robail nips in at the near post to slot for Lille after good work from Abdul Kader Keita who pulls the ball back from the byeline on the right.
2105: GOAL Steaua Bucuresti 1-3 Real Madrid
Valentin Badea scores for Steaua Bucuresti, stabbing in from close range after some poor defending from the Spanish side.
2102: In the other game in Group E it is clearly not Dynamo Kiev's night. Already three down, Maksim Shatskikh blazes a great opportunity over.
2101: It is almost two to AC Milan but Daniel Zitka saves a drive from substitute Cafu.
2100: GOAL Anderlecht 0-1 AC Milan
They may be a man down but AC Milan are now a goal up. Kaka scores and it is a cracker. The Brazilian unleashes an effort from 30 yards that leaves keeper Daniel Zitka no chance.
2057: GOAL Celtic 1-0 Benfica
Celtic break the deadlock and it is Kenny Miller who turns the ball beyond Quim. Lee Naylor sweeps a low cross into the box and Shunsuke Nakamura's connection bobbles into Miller's path for a simple finish.
2056: GOAL Steaua Bucuresti 0-3 Real Madrid
Robinho makes it three for Real with a curling effort from wide on the left after cutting inside on to his right foot. It too a deflection on the way.
2052: GOAL Dynamo Kiev 0-3 Lyon
Lyon are on easy street in the Ukraine and make it three with a header from France international Florent Malouda who attacks the near post to convert Juninho's corner.
2050: Benfica continue their good form from the first half and Simao Sabrosa fires a free-kick just wide.
2049: RED CARD AC Milan
Anderlecht have not won a Champions League game at home in their last seven attempts but may well fancy their chances of snapping that run against 10 men for the best part of a half. AC Milan's Daniele Bonera is off for two bookings on his Champions League debut.
2047: GOAL Manchester United 2-0 FC Copenhagen
Sir Alex Ferguson is beaming as he walks along the touchline to his seat after an early second-half goal from John O'Shea. The Irishman meets Cristiano Ronaldo's corner but it is not exactly a classic. It comes off his shin.
2045: The action resumes and the eight goals so far tonight need to be doubled to equal the lowest return in the previous four rounds this season.
2034: HALF-TIME
Porto and Hamburg are the last teams to turn for the half-time oranges, or, as they might call them in Portugal, alaranjado. For those having trouble sleeping it looks like Group H could do the trick, but there are goals knocking about elsewhere on a relatively quiet night of action... so far.
2033: GOAL Porto 2-0 Hamburg
While teams are ambling down the tunnel around the grounds, referee Alain Hamer deems there is still time to play at the Dragao and Porto make it count. Sascha Kirschstein goesw the right way but Lucho Gonzalez scores to put Porto firmly in the driving seat. The Argentine got the opportunity after Danijel Lljuboja handled in the area.
2030: Shunsuke Nakamura drills a free-kick into the Benfica wall. It sums up Celtic's first-half efforts. They will need to turn it up after the break.
2026: Benfica are bossing Celtic at the minute but Kostas Katsouranis should have done better with that chance. He heads a cross from the left over the bar.
2024: GOAL Manchester United 1-0 FC Copenhagen
This time Paul Scholes beats Jesper Christiansen. He is teed up by Louis Saha and drills a low shot into the corner of the net from a central position outside the box.
2023: GOAL Dynamo Kiev 0-2 Lyon
That must be curtains for Dynamo. Kim Kallstrom doubles Lyon's lead after cutting in from the right and unleashing a fierce shot.
2021: Old Trafford used to revel at the marvels of a blond-haired Danish keeper - there's another one there tonight but he's in the wrong goal from the home perspective. Jesper Christiansen denies Michael Carrick from distance. Paul Scholes is offside from the follow-up but cannot beat the Dane anyway.
2019: GOAL Steaua Bucuresti 0-2 Real Madrid
Raul taps home from six yards after goalkeeper Carlos weakly parries a Ruud van Nistelrooy shot into the striker's path.
2019: Wayne Rooney releases Louis Saha with a slide rule pass but the Frenchman is again denied by Jesper Christiansen. The keeper stayed big to the last minute.
2018: GOAL Dynamo Kiev 0-1 Lyon
Juninho gives Lyon the lead. It does not look as if Dynamo are going to win this final on the 45th anniversary of their first Soviet title. When the Brazilian scores, as sure as night follows day, you can bet it was a free-kick and that is the case here. Yes, it was in the top corner as well.
2017: Artur Boruc is quick off his line to get to a through ball ahead of Fabrizio Miccoli after the Celtic backline had been caught flat.
2015: Benfica have won on three of their four previous matches with Scottish sides but lost 3-0 to Celtic on their last visit to Scotland in the 1969/70 European Cup. The Bhoys won that tie on the flip of the coin after it ended 3-3 on aggregate.
2012: Benfica's Nuno Gomes lines up a shot on goal at Celtic Park but drills a low effort from outside the area wide of the target.
2009: Dynamo Kiev push for what would be an unexpected lead against Lyon. Artem Milevskiy sees an effort saved in a match his coach has described as being like a final.
2008: A goal is coming at Old Trafford, but surely not at the other end! Marcus Allback collects with his back to goal and turns to shoot but Edwin van der Sar is well behind the former Aston Villa man's effort.
2006: A goal is coming at Old Trafford. Louis Saha drags a half-chance across goal and wide of the Danish goal.
2002: The Wayne Rooney goal drought goes on. Manchester United break but the striker's touch on Cristiano Ronaldo's cross from the left is too light and he fails to divert the ball into the net.
2000: GOAL Porto 1-0 Hamburg
In a must-win match for both sides in Group G - Arsenal's group - Porto strike early through Lisandro Lopez. It is the first goal the 2004 winners have scored in this season's competition and Lopez will not get an easier finish after good work from Anderson.
1956: Manchester United are dominating play at Old Trafford but have yet to work a gilt-edged chance like that early one that fell to Louis Saha.
1953: GOAL Steaua Bucuresti 0-1 Real Madrid
Sergio Ramos absolutely powers a header into the net from Guti's corner to give Real Madrid the lead. Not the best start for that record television audience.
1952: Portuguese legend Eusebio has travelled with Benfica to watch the match at Celtic Park. It is unlikely he has seen much in Glasgow to remind him of the country of his birth, Mozambique.
1949: It is a sell out in the Romanian capital between Steaua Bucuresti and Real Madrid. The club have taken record receipts for a match in the country and it is expected to draw the biggest television audience in the history of Romanian football.
1946: Both British clubs go close to opening the scoring. Manchester United striker Louis Saha shoots straight at goalkeeper Jesper Christiansen and Shaun Maloney sees a shot tipped over by Quim for the Bhoys.
1945: The action starts. Two sets of light shirts at Celtic Park could make things tricky.
1943: The players are out at the seven grounds and the Champions League music is playing. Kick off is just moments away.
1921: FULL-TIME CSKA Moscow 1-0 Arsenal
CSKA Moscow have yet to concede in this season's Champions League and leapfrog the Gunners to take top spot in Group G with a goal from Daniel Carvalho in the early kick off. Early in terms of London clocks maybe, but local time in the freezing Russian capital is 2221.
