Mark Farren, Ken Oman and Gary Beckett will be up against PSG |
Derry City have been drawn against Paris Saint Germain in the first round proper of the Uefa Cup. While PSG finished ninth in last year's French League, they did win the French Cup and have a fine European tradition.
The PSG squad includes French World Cup squad member Vikash Dhorasso and Ivory Coast star Bonaventure Kalou.
Derry are scheduled to be at home on 14 September although it remains to be seen whether their home venue, the Brandywell will host the game.
The Eircom League club's ground has a capacity of less than 3,000 for European games.
Other players in in the PSG squad include Portuguese striker Pauleta and former Fulham forward Steve Marlet.
Boss Stephen Kenny said on Thursday night after their 7-3 aggregate success over Gretna that he was hoping his team would face a club that his team can hope to beat rather than drawing a big name.
However, Derry will be big underdogs in the games on 14 and 28 September.
Kenny has made no secret that he wants Derry's home tie to be played at the Brandywell, rather than moving to a venue with a bigger capacity.
Club chief executive Jim Roddy said after Thursday's success that he would prefer the game to be played at the 3,000 capacity Brandywell but that it would depend on Friday's draw.

Lansdowne Road and Windsor Park have been mentioned as possible venues if Derry do feel compelled to play at another ground.
Kenny acknowledged that he was "worried" when Gretna opened the scoring in Thursday's game.
"At 1-0 down anything is possible and we had to get our act together and retain our composure," said Kenny.
"They were throwing the kitchen sink at us, using a long, direct style which is not normally their style because they are a good footballing side.
"They charged into it tonight because they needed the five goals."
The Derry boss paid tribute to the performances of Mark Farren, Gareth McGlynn and Ruaidhri Higgins in Thursday's game.
"We don't feel we have squad players. We have only first team players at this club and it was great to see Mark Farren coming in and doing well.
"He got us back into the game with a goal and Gareth McGlynn reminded us how good a player he is.
"Ruaidhri Higgins rarely gets a mention but he has started three European games so it's very much a team effort."
