Roberto Carlos makes Chelsea wait
Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos
Carlos will make up his mind on his next move after the World Cup
Roberto Carlos will wait until after the World Cup before deciding whether to join Chelsea or stay at Real Madrid.

The Brazilian full-back has one year left on his current deal at the Bernabeu, but could be tempted to a move to Stamford Bridge.

The 33-year-old said: "I want to have a good World Cup and, three or four weeks later, hope to decide whether I stay at Real Madrid or go to Chelsea.

"Chelsea have made a good offer and are offering three years of contract."

If Carlos opts to leave Madrid, he insists it will be for footballing rather than monetary reasons.

He said: "The problem is not financial. The problem is the length of the contract and my motivation to play football.

"I hope I get a reply from Madrid to re-negotiate my deal, if not I'm going to look for somewhere else."
