Beckham is fighting for a first-team place at Real Madrid |
David Beckham was late for Real Madrid's evening training session - on the night England played their first match since he was dropped. The 31-year-old had to train alone after arriving at Real's Valdebebas headquarters an hour-and-a-half late and may be fined by boss Fabio Capello.
His private flight from London on Wednesday was delayed because of heightened airport security in Britain.
It also meant the midfielder was unable to see England kick off against Greece.
Beckham eventually left the training ground with former Manchester United team-mate Ruud van Nistelrooy and insisted he would watch the second half of England's friendly against Greece at Old Trafford - if he got home in time.
Real begin their La Liga campaign against Villarreal on 27 August but Beckham is not certain of a first-team place.
Capello preferred Brazilian Cicinho to Beckham during the recent pre-season tour of the United States.
And Beckham's England career is also in the balance after new national boss Steve McClaren left him out of his first squad for Wednesday's friendly.
Beckham, who made his debut in 1996 against Moldova, stepped down as captain after England's World Cup quarter-final defeat in July but insisted he wanted to continue representing his country.
