Juventus opened an eight-point lead at the top of Serie A after Mauro Camoranesi struck an 88th-minute winner in a 2-1 victory at Fiorentina on Sunday.
David Trezeguet put Juve ahead only for Giampaolo Pazzini to level just before half-time with a superb header.
Fiorentina hit the woodwork three times and Juve coach Fabio Capello admitted a draw might have been a fairer result.
However, the match was marred by claims from Juve midfielder Emerson that his team-mate Patrick Vieira was racially abused during the match.
"Vieira has been the victim of racist insults," said Emerson. "It's very sad to see that something like this still happens."
The claims come a week after Ivory Coast player Marco Zoro of Messina was insulted in a league game against Inter Milan and threatened to walk off in protest.
In the pick of the other matches, Paolo di Canio scored his first goal of the season as Lazio beat Siena 3-2.

A 2-0 victory by Barcelona at Villarreal, their seventh consecutive league win, moved the champions back to the top.
An own goal by Villarreal defender Juan Manuel Pena and deflected strike by midfielder Deco took Barcelona to 31 points, level with Osasuna who won 2-1 at Malaga.
On Saturday, Ronaldo hit the winner as Real Madrid scraped a 1-0 win against Getafe, despite having David Beckham sent off at the Bernabeu.
Beckham was sent off on 58 minutes for a rash challenge on striker Riki, and then exchanged angry words with the Getafe management as he left the pitch.

Real Betis' miserable season continued with a 2-1 defeat by Celta Vigo in Galicia.
High-flying Celta led 2-0 after 20 minutes through Nestor Cannobio and Fernando Baiano before Edu got one back for Betis in the last minute of the first half.

Swiss international Alexander Frei scored the only goal as Rennes overcame Nice 1-0 in Ligue 1 on Sunday.

On Saturday, defending champions Lyon continued their march towards another league crown with a 2-0 win over Paris St Germain.
Striker Fred and Norway international John Carew netted the goals for Gerard Houllier's unbeaten side.
Auxerre thrashed Nantes 4-0 with two goals apiece from Peguy Luyindula and Pieroni Benoit Cheyrou.
