Sweden co-coach Lars Lagerback praised his side for fighting back to secure a 2-2 draw with Denmark in Porto.

The result means both teams qualify from Group C for the quarter-finals, despite Italy's 2-1 win over Bulgaria.

A relieved Lagerback said: "We did not really hit form, but it was a great fight for 90 minutes.

"If you look at the whole game, it was a fair result. We had problems in the first half but then we started to control the game."

Lagerback said any suggestion the Swedes and Danes had colluded to send Italy out of Euro 2004 was wide of the mark.

"If [Italy coach] Giovanni Trappatoni watches the video of this match, he will see that this was a very tough duel.

"Italy only have themselves to blame for their elimination."

Sweden refused to let any claims of a Scandinavian fix spoil their qualification celebrations.

Striker Henrik Larsson who scored their first goal from the penalty spot said: "It's a feeling of joy you just can't describe - fantastic."

He added: "There's no way you could arrange that scoreline - not even Steven Spielberg could write a script like that.

"I didn't hear the result of the Italy v Bulgaria game until after ours was over.

"I feel sorry for the Italians, but in football sometimes you win, sometimes you lose."
