Dutch winger Marc Overmars has said he will retire from international football after Euro 2004.

The 31-year-old, who joins Frank de Boer and Jaap Stam in stepping down, said: "It's good for (Dutch) football."

Former Arsenal star Overmars, released by Barcelona at the end of the season, wants to go out on a high, adding: "I still have value for this team."

He admitted that if Euro 2004 went on for longer than three weeks, he might struggle with injuries.

"It would be a different story if the tournament was held for four months," he said.
