BBC Sport asks 'Who are the champions?'

Arsenal

A poll of football experts has been conducted by the BBC Sport website to produce a predicted top four for the 2010-11 Premier League season.

England's former manager Graham Taylor and winger Chris Waddle were among more than 30 people we surveyed, along with Lee Dixon, Robbie Savage and a variety of journalists and commentators.

The identities of the top four are being revealed daily, one by one from Tuesday, with the outright winner and all the individual selections announced on Friday.

Today we can reveal our survey forecasts ARSENAL will finish third.

Like Manchester City, who are predicted to come fourth in our poll, only two pundits put the Gunners as their first choice.

ARSENAL - PREDICTED FIRST CHOICE

"The time has come for Arsenal. Patience is going to pay off. In Cesc's [Fabregas] last season, Arsene Wenger, the genius who stole him from Barcelona, is going to be vindicated."
Patrick Barclay, Sunday Times chief football correspondent

"Arsenal have outstanding talent and if they at last show more resilience in defence, their fluent attacking can bring the club its first Premier League title since 2004."
Kevin McCarra, Guardian football correspondent

ARSENAL - PREDICTED SECOND PLACE*

"Arsenal and Manchester City will improve but not quite enough to win it. Manchester United could start to slip."
Ian Ladyman, Daily Mail football writer

"Arsenal are another year older, wiser and stronger and we could be set for a reprise of the greatest managerial rivalry in football - Fergie v Wenger."
Guy Mowbray, BBC Sport commentator

How the poll works

Our pundits were asked to predict their top four, in order.

We allocated four points for each first place, three for second, two for third, and one for fourth.

The teams were then ranked according to their total points.

On Thursday, the predicted second team will be revealed...

Meanwhile, you can use our Premier League predictor to produce your own forecast.
