Lawro's Premiership predictions

By Mark Lawrenson
BBC Sport football expert

Saturday

There are going to be goals. Blackburn had a great result at Chelsea last week and are far better going forward than defending.

The same, of course, can be said for City. They will always create chances but teams will always score goals against them too, so I will go for Blackburn in a high-scoring game.
Verdict: Home win.

I think Fulham only need one more win to be safe. But they might not get it here as they have played twice in a week and Sunderland have had the week off.

But in all honesty I couldn't back Sunderland to win away from home anywhere - ever. So I'll have to go for a draw here.

Verdict: Draw.

Middlesbrough were in danger of sinking until the result at Sunderland.

But they are doing really well at home and, as well as Everton are playing at the moment, I'll go for a draw.

Verdict: Draw

I say the same about West Brom every week. They try like hell, they are not that bad defensively but they just can't score. And if you can't score goals in this league you have got absolutely no chance.

Southampton, on the other hand, have James Beattie. I thought there may have been a bit of fall-out after the England game and then when he got pulled off in the next game, but his goal against Everton shows he is still doing it.

Southampton have got back on to the rails after a bit of a stutter recently, so I won't back against them.

Verdict: Home win.

I'll change the habit of a lifetime and go for West Ham. They had a crucial win last week and can make it back-to-back victories against Spurs.

It's ironic that since Spurs let Les Ferdinand and Sergei Rebrov go, all their strikers are getting injured and they really miss Robbie Keane.

Verdict: Home win.

Sunday

(Kick-off 1200 GMT)

These are the Premiership's two form teams but I still see it as a home banker.

As well as Charlton have been playing this season, I still can't see them going to Highbury and upsetting Arsenal.

Arsenal are the best team by far in the Premiership. They very rarely slip up and I can't see them doing so here.

Verdict: Home win.

Monday

(Kick-off 2000 GMT)

I'm going for Villa as they will feel it's payback time after Peter Enckelman's howler in the game at St Andrews.

How about Villa to win it 3-2 with a last minute Enckelman header from a corner?

Verdict: Home win.
