| Sunday, 10 November, 2002, 18:54 GMT Roeder: I'll fight on
West Ham have not won a home game all season, but the under-fire manager said he was not afraid of the sack. "I don't live in fear. It is a waste of energy, it is energy-sapping," he said."Those things are out of all managers' hands. "When you are in the bottom five you are in the spotlight, but I am not fearful of tomorrow.
"I am sure the board will talk to me as and when they are ready to." Roeder was more concerned at his side's woeful first-half defending, which saw Leeds race into a 4-1 lead. The Hammers battled back to 4-3 in the second half, but the damage had been done. "I am very angry over the non-defending, because you cannot call that defending," said Roeder.
Leeds boss Terry Venables was pleased his side took advantage of the leaks in the West Ham defence. He said: "We were magnificent in the first half. "I have said we have played well for a while without putting the result on the scoresheet and today we came out and did everything well. "The crosses were particularly good and we did all sorts of damage. "We did earn that lead at half-time. That was us out there and we made it hard for them to get back. "Hopefully this win can take us forward, but we know we have still got a lot of work to do." |
