Solano makes derby vow

Newcastle midfielder Nolberto Solano is promising to take out his frustrations on Sunderland this weekend.

Solano was left out of the line-up during Newcastle's 2-0 defeat at Dynamo Kiev in midweek.

But he is likely to be recalled for the Tyne-Wear derby at St James' Park on Saturday.

I've got goals whoever I have played alongside and I would like to think that will happen here
Marcus Stewart

"It was the first time I've been left out without any other reason than tactical decisions by Sir Bobby," the 27-year-old said.

"I want to play in every Newcastle game, but I have no problem with his decision.

"The manager has told me to be ready for Sunderland. I have lots of energy left and I want to take it out on Sunderland.

"I'm looking forward to the most important north-east derby in the time I have been at the club."

Both teams have endured a poor start to the season and find themselves at the wrong end of the table.

And Solano says the Magpies position makes it even more important for them to get the three points.

"The table doesn't look good," admitted Solano.

"We have to win this game because it's very special for the fans and for us as well.

"We could lose against other teams, but we can't lose against Sunderland."

Sunderland's problems have been a lack of goals, but Marcus Stewart is hoping manager Peter Reid will remain patient with his partnership with Tore Andre Flo.

Reid splashed out 10m for the pair, but so far they have failed to gel and the manager is considering reverting to a 4-5-1 formation for a game they can't afford to lose.

"I've got goals whoever I have played alongside and I would like to think that will happen here," said Stewart.

"Partnerships are funny things in football.

"Sometimes it takes games for a partnership to develop, sometimes it happens in the first game."
