On-loan Torquay United striker Jake Robinson scored twice in three minutes to help the Gulls hammer his parent club Shrewsbury Town at Plainmoor.
After trailing to Gavin Tomlin's low early strike into the bottom corner, Town's Jermaine Grandison was dismissed for a poor challenge on Robinson.
Robinson netted his first from the spot after handball by Shane Cansdell-Sherriff then hit a 30-yard second.
Chris Zebroski hit a close-range fourth before Ian Sharps' late own goal.
It was Town's heaviest defeat since Graham Turner retuned to the club.
And, having been given permission to play by Turner, Robinson's double set up Town's biggest walloping since he was part of a losing Shrewsbury side who went down by the same scoreline at Dagenham & Redbridge in August 2009.
The Gulls were given a flying start by new on-loan Dagenham & Redbridge striker Tomlin.
He raced onto a through ball from another on-loan man, Ipswich striker Ronan Murray, before cleverly clipping the ball over Town keeper Ben Smith.
Grandison's red card for a foul on Robinson four minutes before the break made it an uphill battle for Shrewsbury.
And it looked all over 12 minutes into the second half after Robinson's quickfire double.
Zebroski got the fourth on 70 minutes when he buried Craig Stanley's cross before Shrewsbury skipper Sharps appeared to get the last touch to Stanley's cross-cum-shot.
Torquay United manager Paul Buckle told BBC Radio Devon: "It was a fabulous performance and to actually get five goals as well is the icing on the cake.
"Nothing was going to stop us today. The players were in the right mood and we were positive on the front foot.
"We know we have to be at our very best every week to get something in League Two."
Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire:
"We started poorly but I thought we were just starting to weather it at the point of the sending off.
"The penalty, was definitely the killer goal. Shane told me that the ball has hit him on the upper part of the shoulder so from within the dressing room there has got to be a complaint.
"We have lost the game and we have been poor so it doesn't matter who scored. If Jake Robinson hadn't scored today then somebody else would have."
