Chesterfield were thankful to goalkeeper Tommy Lee after he produced a string of fine saves to earn them a goalless draw with Darlington.

The hosts had a let-off in the 26th minute when a low cross was turned onto his own bar by captain Steve Foster.

Chesterfield threatened again on 43 minutes as Jamie Winter forced a save.

But the Quakers improved after the break and Jason Kennedy went close with a lob, while Alan White and Billy Clarke both nearly broke the deadlock.
