League One guide: MK Dons - Rochdale

Karl Robinson, Craig Short, Paul Dickov, Gary Johnson, Peter Reid and Keith Hill

BBC Sport's club-by-club guide to the 2010/11 League One season, from MK Dons through to Rochdale.

MK DONS
Milton Keynes Dons

Manager: Karl Robinson

Last season: 12th

Strengths: The Dons still have the feeling of a great adventure in the 'new city', and the experienced John Gorman can be a key man in Robinson's coaching staff.

Weaknesses: A poor disciplinary record last season, and a leaky defence.

Key man: Former Liverpool and Germany star Dietmar Hamann could be the man to inspire the Dons to a promotion challenge.

NOTTS COUNTY
Notts County

Manager: Craig Short

Last season: First in League Two, promoted.

Strengths: The momentum from last season will give them every possibility of challenging again, while new manager Short has added some very useful players to the squad.

Weaknesses: Short is a Notts legend, but how he will cope with the rigours of League One remains in question. The players that have arrived suggest that he knows what is needed.

Key man: How Lee Hughes links up with Ben Burgess could be key for the Magpies. The former West Brom striker hit 33 goals for the team last season, despite not having a regular strike partner.

OLDHAM ATHLETIC
Oldham Athletic

Manager: Paul Dickov

Last season: 17th

Strengths: The Athletic defence saved them from relegation last season - they conceded fewer goals than any other club in the bottom half of the table.

Weaknesses: There could be problems behind the scenes after chairman Simon Blitz and director Danny Gazal quit in July. The double departure led to new chairman Simon Corney insisting that the club's future is not at risk.

Key man: The performances of Northern Ireland international striker Warren Feeney will determine whether the Latics have the goals to get to the play-offs.

PETERBOROUGH UNITED
Peterborough United

Manager: Gary Johnson

Last season: 24th in the Championship, relegated.

Strengths: In Johnson, Posh seem to have finally found the ideal replacement for Darren Ferguson. He has already succeeded in attracting a better quality of player to London Road and knows what it takes to win promotion from League One.

Weaknesses: With average crowds of less than 10,000, Posh continue to rely heavily on the personal wealth of owner Darragh MacAnthony.

Key man: Winger George Boyd is the star turn, but former Scunthorpe playmaker Grant McCann could prove to be their most important summer signing.

PLYMOUTH ARGYLE
Plymouth Argyle

Manager: Peter Reid

Last season: 23rd in the Championship, relegated.

Strengths: The Argyle squad contains a lot of grafters, who provide consistency, fight hard for the team, and will never shirk a tackle.

Weaknesses: Plymouth simply did not hit the back of the net enough last season, finishing with 43 goals, an average of less than one a game.

Key man: Former Wales international midfielder Carl Fletcher captains the side, bringing Premier League experience to the table.

ROCHDALE
Rochdale

Manager: Keith Hill

Last season: Third in League Two, promoted.

Strengths: Their attacking and aggressive style. Hill has his team well organised, while veteran captain Gary Jones provides the motivation.

Weaknesses: The departure of key players Tom Kennedy, Chris Dagnall and Rory McArdle has meant that Hill has had to do some rebuilding, which could make their survival bid more difficult.

Key man: Defender Craig Dawson has been the subject of interest from clubs in the Championship and Premier League. Whether Rochdale can hold onto him will have a major impact on how they perform this season.
