Swindon ended a six-match winless run with victory at home to Southend.
Danny Wilson's side scored twice in the opening 18 minutes to effectively put the game beyond the visitors' reach.
Reading loanee Hal Robson-Kanu put Swindon in front as they caught their opponents on the break, before Simon Cox's penalty five minutes later.
Southend enjoyed plenty of possession after the break but could not score, Cox securing the win with a second penalty after a foul on Michael Timlin.
