Sam Hewson scored twice as Hereford beat fellow strugglers Cheltenham.
The visitors took the lead when keeper Scott Brown and Lee Ridley tangled and Febian Brandy bundled the ball in.
Cheltenham hit back to take the lead with two Lloyd Owusu goals, his second a header from an Ian Westlake corner, who later struck the post.
But Hewson equalised with a thunderous strike and he grabbed the winner with a deflected free-kick before Ridley was was sent off for dissent late on.
Hereford manager Graham Turner told BBC Hereford & Worcester:
"Circumstances that prevailed for long periods of the game led to us showing a lot of character.
"We lost three centre-halves during the course of the first half and that was against probably the most direct side that we have met for a long time.
"They were a side with big front players and they were intent on pumping everything into our box, so it's a day when you need your good headers of the ball and we lost all three in the first half."
