Defender Jack Smith converted a penalty to secure three home points and a first clean sheet of the season for Swindon as they beat Oldham.
Swindon took the lead on 25 minutes as centre-half Sean Morrison lashed home his first goal for the club.
Simon Cox threaded the ball in for Morrison, who drove home from 15 yards.
Nine minutes later, Smith sent keeper Mark Crossley the wrong way from the spot after Lee Hughes handballed Jon-Paul McGovern's cross.
