Nottingham Forest's automatic promotion hopes all but ended as they were held to a draw at home by Bristol Rovers.

Lewis Haldane and Ricky Lambert both went close before Forest took the lead when Lewis McGugan curled a free-kick past Steve Phillips from 25 yards.

Rovers grabbed a deserved equaliser when Stuart Campbell swung over a free-kick and Steve Elliott superbly headed past Forest keeper Paul Smith.

Kris Commons fired over from 12 yards as Rovers hung on for a point.
