There are only five teams with anything of real significance to play for on the final day of the season.

At the top Scunthorpe have already claimed the title, while at the bottom Brentford, Rotherham, Bradford and Chesterfield have been relegated.

So that leaves Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Blackpool battling for an automatic promotion spot, and Oldham and Swansea vying for the final play-off place.

BBC Sport outlines the permutations and Carlisle manager Neil McDonald assesses the action.

Scunthorpe claimed the title and a place in the Championship in the last round of matches when Bristol City lost to Millwall.

And the red half of Bristol cannot afford another slip up with Nottingham Forest and Blackpool breathing down their neck in the race for that second promotion spot.

City host Rotherham on the final day and a win will earn them promotion. Anything less and they will be in the play-offs if Forest or Blackpool produce.

Forest are just a point behind and, like Blackpool who are a further point adrift, boast a better goal difference than City so a draw could be enough.

Neil McDonald's verdict
It's amazing that a season of fixtures comes down to one day, one more game, and there will certainly be full houses at Bristol City and Nottingham Forest which is fantastic for League One football.

City are in the driving seat and, with all due respect to Rotherham, you'd expect them to take the points at home.

But they have everything to lose, pressure on the final day can be tough to deal with and Forest will be right there to capitalise on any slip.

Forest will win their game no problem, which ruins any hopes Blackpool may have.

That three-way tussle for promotion between Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Blackpool obviously overlaps into the play-offs.

The two teams that miss out on automatic promotion are assured of home matches in the second leg of their play-offs.

And Yeovil are certain of finishing in fifth whatever happens to them at Gillingham.

Oldham host relegated Chesterfield knowing they have to match or better whatever result Swansea can secure at home to Blackpool - who of course have plenty to play for themselves.

Neil McDonald's verdict
While I do not expect Blackpool to claim that second promotion spot, they will give Swansea one hell of a game - their away form is excellent and they are on a great run.

And Swansea will give everything they've got. We lost to them last weekend so I can vouch that they are very, very strong.

However, as with Bristol City, it is advantage Oldham and you'd have to put your money on them.

It's a close call as Oldham have been in a sticky patch, but they had a fantastic victory against Brighton, which is not an easy place to go, so they look to have come through that and they have home advantage.

Relegation was all wrapped up with a week to go when Chesterfield and Bradford joined Brentford and Rotherham in falling into League Two.
