Bournemouth manager Sean O'Driscoll won his last game in charge of the Cherries as they scraped past battling Crewe. On-loan striker Leon Best got the only goal of the game with a sharply-taken header from a Stephen Purches cross.
Crewe pressed hard for an equaliser, with Michael O'Connor screaming a shot over the bar and and Gary Roberts just failing to connect with a cross-shot.
Rodney Jack and Jon Otsemobor both fired wide after the break as Bournemouth hung on for three points.
