No home advantage, says Woking assistant Steve Thompson

Woking FC and Farnborough FC

Woking assistant manager Steve Thompson does not think home advantage will be a factor in his side's Blue Square Bet South play-off semi-final.

The Cards entertain Farnborough at Kingfield in the first leg on Wednesday, with the return on Sunday.

Thompson told BBC Surrey: "I had no preferences, we're just pleased to have made it.

"I don't think there's any advantage for them having the second leg at home; our away fans will make sure of that."

Thompson added: "It's been a monumental effort for three months but a lot of thought will go in to how we prepare for the game.

"The local rivalry will probably add to the spice, and it's a great double-header to have."

Woking ran out 2-1 winners the last time the two sides met, at the Rushmoor Community Stadium on Easter Saturday.

However, Farnborough manager, Steve King, is expecting things to be different this time around.

"I don't think we did ourselves justice in the game against Woking," he told BBC Surrey.

"I'm sure you'll see a completely different side to the one that lost that game. I think both are going to be close games.

King added that he is not motivated by any rivalry between the two sets of supporters.

"It's a derby for the fans but for me it's just another game," he said. "Woking are a great club with a great tradition and Garry Hill has done a magnificent job with Steve Thompson since they went in.

"There's no rivalry for me. The fans would love to win it but for me it's no different to if we were playing Chelmsford, Ebbsfleet, or anyone else."
