Damian Reeves gave Alty the lead from the penalty spot after Robert Marsh-Evans had brought down Dale Johnson.

The home side had Anthony Danylyk sent off after getting two yellow cards, the first of which was for dissent.

Southport levelled when Steve Daly slotted home a Shaun Whalley cross, before they had Chris Lever sent off for a foul Nicky Clee.
