York City boosted their Blue Square Bet Premier play-off hopes with victory over struggling Eastbourne Borough.
The home side, beaten only twice at Bootham Crescent all season, went close early on when Scott Kerr fired a shot wide from 20 yards.
Michael Rankine scored the only goal of the game in the 16th minute, heading home a Peter Till cross.
Till twice went close himself and at the other end Jamie Taylor wasted the visitors' best chance as he shot wide.
