Cambridge United 0-0 Histon

Histon's Erkan Okay was sent off late on as they played out an otherwise uneventful derby draw with Cambridge.

Okay was shown a straight red for violent conduct 13 minutes from time, but the U's could not take advantage.

United's Robbie Willmott had earlier rattled the crossbar with a 30-yard free-kick, while Omer Riza spurned a great chance at the other end.

The home side almost nicked it four minutes into injury time but Josh Coulsen headed over from six yards.

Cambridge United boss Martin Ling told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire:
"Overall I thought we were the better team, but in the last third of the pitch we weren't good enough and there just wasn't the service.

"We never really opened them up at any stage and we weren't street-wise enough. Aside from Paul Carden and Dave Partridge we didn't have enough nous.

"Histon are the smaller club and that always gives them an advantage, but we need to be able to handle that."

Histon player-manager David Livermore told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire:
"We worked extremely hard. I thought our shape was good and our desire not to get beaten or concede was spot on.

"If we could have maybe used the ball a little bit better than we could have come away with the three points.

"You could sense they didn't want it as much as we did, but now we need to keep playing this way week-in, week-out."
