A late penalty from Simon Spender earned 10-man Barrow a point against lowly Southport.
A largely uneventful game came to life when the hosts had Robin Hulbert sent off for violent conduct with 15 minutes of the match remaining.
Matty McNeil then put the Sandgrounders into the lead when he headed home from John Kissock's corner.
Spender levelled the scores after Robert Marsh-Evans brought down Paul Rutherford in the box.
