Grimsby 1-1 Southport

Alan Connell grabbed an equaliser as Grimsby played out a hard-fought draw with struggling Southport.

The home side hit the bar through Peter Bore early on before the Yellows took a surprise lead when Liam Blakeman fired in a stunning free kick from 30 yards.

Blakeman could have had a hat-trick but he blazed two efforts over the bar when well placed.

Connell equalised from 18 yards after a neat assist from Lee Peacock, who himself missed a great chance late on.
