Gateshead scored two goals in a minute before the break as they came from behind to beat Tamworth.
The visitors took the lead when Alex Rodman scored with a glancing header from a Danny Thomas cross.
But Gateshead equalised before the break when John Shaw turned home Phil Turnbull's centre.
A minute later, Kris Gate clipped the ball over Ross Atkins to put the hosts ahead and Andy Ferrell's injury-time shot sealed the victory.
The win sees Gateshead move to within two points of the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off spots.
