Moore joined Wimbledon from Dover Athletic in July
Sammy Moore scored twice as AFC Wimbledon made the most of a blistering start to thump fellow Blue Square Bet Premier promotion hopefuls Mansfield.
Moore slotted the opener from Christian Jolley's pull-back within 10 seconds and Jolley's fine finish made it 2-0.
Paul Connor's looping header gave the Stags hope but Danny Kedwell rounded Alan Marriott to make it 3-1 and Ryan Jackson raced through to fire a fourth.
Moore hit number five but Stags had the final say through Louis Briscoe's shot.
And while Briscoe's classy strike was arguably the goal of the game, it did little to lift the gloom among the home fans after a sloppy defensive display.
AFC Wimbledon's visit was the perfect chance for David Holdsworth's Stags to test their promotion credentials.
But despite winning their last two home games 5-0 and 4-0 respectively, and sitting just three points behind Terry Brown's men before kick-off, it was a test they failed despite a promising attacking performance.
The Dons played with style, pace and guile and were great value for their win thanks to some ruthless finishing.
And they would have gone top of the table but for Crawley fighting back from 1-0 down at Luton to secure a 2-1 win with two goals in the last 10 minutes.
But Stags gave them more help than they could have possibly dreamed of, with some rank bad defending in a diabolical start.
Moore was the first to profit, finishing from close range after Gary Silk was caught out on the right flank with just eight seconds on the clock.
And it was 2-0 on nine minutes when a foolish Chris Smith header allowed Jolley to nip in and lob the ball over the helpless Marriott.
The Stags then settled and started to pile on the pressure.
Briscoe had two strikes on goal and Kyle Nix shot straight at keeper Seb Brown when well placed.
Striker Connor was also unlucky to see a reflex header fall into the keeper's grateful arms following an incisive move just after the half-hour mark.
But Connor only had to wait a minute for another chance and this time he timed his leap to perfection to send a looping header over Brown from a sumptuous Ashley Cain cross.
The home side were looking increasingly dangerous but the Dons grabbed a crucial third just before the break.
This time it was the ever-dangerous Kedwell who did the damage, when he raced through one-on-one and had plenty of time to skip past Marriott and tap the ball home.
Only a great save from Marriott, tipping over a fierce Moore drive, prevented the score moving to 4-1 at the interval.
The home side continued to commit men forward after the turnaround and both sides created chances in the opening 10 minutes.
But it was after a short spell of Stags pressure that the Dons ensured their victory when Jackson was allowed the freedom of Field Mill to run down the right and smash the ball past substitute keeper Neil Collett - a half-time replacement for the injured Marriott.
And the rampant visitors soon grabbed a fifth, Moore turning the ball in from inside the six-yard box.
Briscoe's stunning left-foot effort gave Stags fans some late cheer and they could have made it 5-3 in stoppage time when substitute Luke Medley crashed a shot against the post.
The only good news for new Stags chairman John Radford came at half-time when midway through his side's mauling, he was named as the winner of the club's Golden Goal raffle.
But having pledged to invest £500,000 by the end of the season, he will be expecting a lot more of a return.
