Kay joined Gateshead on loan from Sunderland on Thursday

Michael Kay scored a late equaliser on his debut to earn Gateshead a draw with 10-man Mansfield.

The visitors took the lead when Louis Briscoe set up Paul Connor, who slotted the ball in from close range.

Mansfield were reduced to 10 men when Adam Smith was sent off for a high challenge on Kay.

Gateshead made the most of their numerical advantage when Kay headed in a Martin Brittain corner late on to clinch a point for the home side.
