Lee Gregory scored his first goal of the season as Mansfield battled to a narrow win against Southport.

The visitors started the better of the two sides and took the lead when Steven Istead struck from just inside the penalty area.

Gregory doubled the advantage just before half-time when he drove a low shot into the bottom corner.

Steve Daly's 18-yard strike into the top corner gave the home side hope but Mansfield held on for the win.
