York City are still waiting for their first win of the season after being held by a resolute Barrow side.
Michael Gash drew a fine early save from visiting keeper Alan Martin and Neil Barrett wasted a close-range headed chance as the hosts dominated.
Richard Brodie also spurned a glorious opportunity when his point-blank strike was tipped round the post by Martin.
But Barrow nearly stole the points when Mark Boyd's stunning 30-yard strike was superbly saved by Michael Ingham.
