Gateshead and Kettering Town battled out an ill-tempered draw which saw seven yellow cards and one red shown.

Chances were scarce in a dour affair before Poppies' defender John Dempster was sent off in the 84th minute after receiving two yellow cards.

The Heed came closest to breaking the deadlock, Andy Ferrell's early long range shot just missing the target.

Dempster got his marching orders for a foul on defender Paul Heckingbottom but few chances followed his dismissal.
