Boston United defeat Gainsborough in county cup tie
Miles Hunter's 89th-minute winner earned Boston United a 2-1 win over Gainsborough Trinity at the Northolme in the Lincolnshire Senior Shield.
The substitute pounced from close range to turn home Ryan Semple's cross.
Jamie Yates had given the Pilgrims a half-time lead before Trinity levelled through Lewis McMahon's penalty.
Gainsborough could be without skipper Gavin Cowan for several weeks after the defender suffered a suspected broken ankle during the second half.
Boston joint-manager Paul Hurst felt the win was the ideal preparation for the Pilgrims' Blue Square North campaign which begins on 14 August.
He told BBC Lincolnshire: "I was really impressed and it's a shame three points weren't up for grabs today.
"I'm happy with how we're progressing. We'll now have a couple of days of good training ahead of the big kick-off, because ultimately what we've done so far counts for nothing.
Trinity manager Brian Little said: "I'm disappointed, but not so much about the game because football takes a back seat when someone gets hurt.
"It's a big blow, he's the captain and a leader. In the second half we'd limited them to a couple of half-chances but when we lost Gavin we also lost our shape a little bit."
