Hayes & Yeading 2-2 Kidderminster Harriers

Blue Square Premier

Scott Fitzgerald was sent off after scoring a brace of goals as Hayes & Yeading twice let slip a lead to draw at home to Kidderminster Harriers.

Fitzgerald's close-range effort put the home side one up at the break, only for Chris McPhee to level from half-time substitute Duane Courtney's cross.

Fitzgerald then volleyed home from the edge of the box before being sent off after a tangle with Luke Prosser.

Three minutes on, Martin Riley headed Harriers level against the 10 men.

Hayes drop a place, thanks to Barrow's 4-1 win over Crawley, but the point was enough to lift them six points above the drop zone with four games remaining.

Hayes were the more assertive side in the first half, Harriers keeper Ross being forced into an impressive save from Tom Cadmore's header before going ahead from another set piece when Fitzgerald poked home Marc Canham's corner.

Kidderminster were brighter after the interval, deservedly levelling before Fitzgerald claimed his second with that rasping 20-yard volley.

But Fitzgerald was then sent off for a second bookable offence after both he and Prosser were cautioned for letting their tempers get the better of them in a clash late on.

And Harriers did not take long to cash in, Riley heading home Darryl Knight's corner.

Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr told BBC Hereford and Worcester:

"It was a bit of a disjointed performance but we kept going until the end and we got the point.

"We were pushing to try and get the winner especially when they went down to 10 men.

"But it just wasn't to be, although it was pleasing to get something out of the game."
