Brodie is now the top scorer in the Blue Square Premier with 23 goals
A first-half Richard Brodie hat-trick helped York City blow away AFC Wimbledon and cement a Blue Square Premier play-off spot.
Michael Rankine shot under Wimbledon keeper James Pullen after 30 seconds.
Brodie slotted identical penalties either side of his second goal after he was twice brought down in the area.
Neil Barrett's incisive pass found Brodie as he coolly rounded Pullen and after the break Rankine claimed his second off Chris Carruthers's cross.
The game was preceded by a minute's applause for ex-York City player Sid Storey who passed away on Wednesday.
And with the cheers still ringing in his ears Rankine, recalled to the starting line up in place of Michael Gash, sprinted into the Wimbledon area to collect a pass from Brodie to squeeze the ball under Pullen.
The Minstermen grew in confidence as they began a period of flowing, one-touch football marshalled at pace by Alex Lawless.
Brodie was brought down in the area by Ben Judge as he prepared to unleash a left-footed shot, Judge was shown yellow.
York's top scorer brushed himself down to drive the spot kick low and to the right.
Barrett's clever through ball down the left found Brodie minutes later and he rounded Pullen for his brace.
Wimbledon had to wait until 32 minutes before they forced a genuine save from York keeper Michael Ingham as Luke Moore unleashed a powerful attempt to the bottom left corner off a free-kick.
Brodie was again brought down inside the Wimbledon area, this time by Paul Lorraine, and Brodie produced an identical strike from the penalty spot.
Glenn Poole delivered a quality drive from 25 yards out shortly before half-time but it drew a diving save high to the right by York keeper Ingham.
Wimbledon emerged more upbeat for the second half but York quickly rediscovered their stride.
James Meredith produced a fine 30-yard effort that narrowly fell wide just short of the hour and the effervescent Lawless forced a save from Pullen minutes later.
Brodie could have had his fourth after Carruthers whipped in a cross after sprinting 30 yards down the wing.
But Brodie mistimed his shot and Rankine converted - but only after scuffing his initial attempt.
Substitute York striker Gash, on for Brodie, could have made it six with a diving header from six yards but he sent it wide left.
